After moving to Zürich, I learned that understanding Standard German and understanding the conversations happening around me were two different things. Most language apps stop at High German, while everyday life here happens in dialect.
Swiss German is an iOS app I'm building around the Zürich dialect. Instead of generic vocabulary lists, the course is organised around real situations: ordering in a café, taking public transport, talking to neighbours, handling an apartment viewing, or joining a conversation at work.
Each lesson connects familiar High German with the Zürich German people actually use. The goal is not to turn dialect into another grammar textbook. It is to help learners recognise common sound shifts, practise useful phrases, and feel ready when a real conversation starts.
The app works offline and includes short drills, a personal phrasebook, progress tracking, and audio for every Swiss German phrase.
